Model of Twin Automatic Stacking Crane Operation Strategy with Dynamic Handshake Area in an Automated Container Terminal

This paper proposes a new idea for allocating handshake area of an automated container yard. A block yards (CY) consists two areas, which are the import (waterside) and export (landside) areas. The CY has major activities (loading unloading), where both served by Twin Automatic Stacking Cranes (Twin-ASCs). in middle serves as temporary slot ASCs. situation causes imbalance between ASCs when demands each side differ significantly. Thus, we proposed using dynamic location corresponding to proportion demand containers. We developed heuristics model algorithms ASC’s operations compare efficiency ASC fixed location. Based on our algorithm, simulation software. Finally, explored some numerical experiments performance policies dealing with different scenarios. Our result showed that approach outperformed existing one reducing unnecessary movements.
